Superbia by Manchester Pride 2014

Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) operate Manchester’s light rail network, Metrolink across the borough.

As a sponsor of Manchester Pride Festival in 2014, TFGM wanted to work with Manchester Pride to create an engaging event as part of the annual cultural programme in the city.

They had the following aims/objectives for the event:
Raise awareness of their service within the LGBT community

Represent Metrolink as a fun, engaging brand

Increase exposure of the offers running for customers during the festival period

• Maximise press exposure

In addition, Manchester Pride wanted to create excitement at the beginning of the festival programme. We set about to achieve these goals, by creating a unique, community focused event within the confines of a Metrolink Tram.

The Metrolink Sessions: the Jam on the Tram took a chartered tram from Manchester Piccadilly to MediaCity:UK, staging live music performances as visitors weaved their way out of the city and to Salford Quays.

Performers included contemporary brass band; Twisted Tubes, plus surprise performances from Jazz musician, Alexander Stewart, drag artist, Misty Chance and actor/singer Nicole Barber-Lane (Hollyoaks Myra McQueen).

Guests were treated to a champagne reception in the exclusive, private members bar On the 7th at MediaCity:UK.
